The **Haskayne School of Business** is currently seeking a Full-time Limited Term **Research Facilitator**for approximately 24 months.
The Research Facilitator at the Haskayne School of Business (HSB) will play a pivotal role in supporting and advancing the school's strategic research priorities. This position will be instrumental in developing and implementing key elements of HSB's research strategic plan, with a focus on building a strong, supportive research ecosystem that encourages high-quality and impactful research, including the scholarship of teaching and learning. It is critical that the individual has the ability to work independently without the need for close supervision, as well as collaboratively in a team and with a variety of stakeholders.
A core aspect of the role will involve assisting in the development of a research ranking strategy for HSB, including identifying the metrics used by external ranking bodies and creating a plan to enhance HSB's performance in these areas. This role will also be responsible for collecting the relevant data, collating and communicating it in a variety of formats. Additionally, the Research Facilitator will support and collaborate with the Senior Associate Dean, Research and Faculty (ADR), and the research committee to help shape and implement the broader strategic research plan. This will include identifying and enhancing areas of research strength, fostering research partnerships with international academic institutions (e.g., research centre partnerships), and supporting a visiting scholar program. The research facilitator will also collect, analyze, report back on, and maintain key research performance indicators and date.
In collaboration with the current Research Facilitator, this position will also serve as a representative of the ADR when engaging with stakeholders within the University, across faculties, and externally. This position is complex, requiring the incumbent to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines while balancing the needs of over 90 HSB faculty, University administrators, external partners, and research funding agencies. Effective communication and professionalism will be critical to success in this role, as the Research Facilitator will be responsible for clearly articulating research activities, challenges, and opportunities to a wide range of stakeholders.
This Research Facilitator reports directly to the ADR at the Haskayne School of Business. This position works primarily in-office, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (35 hours per week); however, due to constantly shifting priorities, flexibility is essential, including some evening and weekend hours.
**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):
Strategic Planning and Research Program Development:
- Develop strategic initiatives to support and enhance research.
- Coordinate processes related to the operations of the HSB Research Office.
- Advise researchers on aligning their research with strategic goals and funding programs.
- Compile and report on research-related outcomes for strategic planning purposes.
- Consult with the ADR on the development and implementation of the strategic research plan.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external agencies to communicate HSB research capabilities and ensure alignment with university initiatives.
- Represent HSB in university planning initiatives to position the school for emerging opportunities.
- Develop Terms of Reference for research-related roles (e.g., Chairs, Professorships, Fellowships).
- Establish and oversee co-branding agreements for business cases published with Ivey Publishing.
- Provide analysis and recommendations on funding developments and research opportunities.
- Foster strategic international research partnerships.
- Collect, analyze, and report back on KPIs.
- Liaise with centres and external partners to facilitate research partnerships (e.g., Mitacs).
Research Development:
- Maintain databases tracking HSB research outputs and metrics.
- Represent the ADR at strategic meetings across the university.
- Develop and support research award nominations (e.g., Honorary Doctorates, Royal Society, Killam).
- Liaise with Vice President Research, Research Services, Postdoc Offices, and the Conjoint Faculties Research Ethics Board.
- Support HSB research initiatives, such as the post-doc program, research elevation fund, and mentorship program.
- Identify needed changes to HSB's Research website and liaise with marketing and communications.
- Develop and maintain an internal portal (HSB Research Info) for easy access to key research information and research performance data.
- Stay informed on new research initiatives and opportunities.
- Promote research courses, symposiums, and other opportunities to engage Haskayne faculty and students in research.
