Compensation: $85k - $95k Annual Salary, depending on experience and qualifications

We are also the founders of a community-based energy investment vehicle. The CED Co-op allows all Ontarians to invest and take part in building solutions to combat climate change. The Co-op has raised over $24 million in investments from its 800+ members, on its way to developing a portfolio of over $45 million of renewable energy projects. We are proud that CED Co-op is the first co-operative in Canada to become a public corporation, enabling these investments to be held in RRSP, RESP, TFSA and RRIF investment portfolios. Future projects under development for the Co-op include community-based net-metering and potentially building efficiency projects such as geo-thermal heating and cooling, EV charging-as-a-service plus many more areas of opportunity.
VCT Group requires a Business Development Manager to actively lead and grow a team of marketing, communications, graphic design and business development specialists in building strong customer relationships and developing project proposals. Through your work, we will secure new business opportunities to meet growth objectives and ensure maximum market participation. You will be able to directly leverage your leadership, communications, marketing and positioning skills to solidify VCT Group’s competitive status in the market. - Research and analyze potential customers to formulate action plans and develop new business opportunities through lead generation activities for products and services offered by the company.
- Execute strategic sales plan initiatives to grow geographic reach and achieve corporate goals.
- In coordination with company leadership, create quarterly and annual sales forecasts to deliver results.
- Review market analysis and conduct business reviews to determine customer needs, price schedules, and geographic adjustments.
- Develop and deliver compelling technical sales presentations to existing and prospective clients, as well as supporting and coaching direct reports in the same.
- Foster a team approach to business development and project closing.
- Ensure department provides persistent, timely and organized follow-up on leads, requests and proposals.
- Represent Company at trade association events and meetings to promote product offerings.
- Meet with key clients, listening for needs, maintaining relationships, and negotiating and closing deals.
- Prepare sales reports reflecting sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion.
- Building strategic relationships to understand electricity market, changes coming to the competitive landscape and identify new opportunities.
- Provide feedback to team on research and development of new products and services.
- Monitor and evaluate the competitive landscape to include the activities and products of our competitors.
- University degree (background in a science, engineering or business or related program is preferred)
- 5+ years of progressive experience in business development roles
- Excellent verbal, written and visual communication skills in the development and delivery of proposals and presentations
- Demonstrated attention to detail, customer care and superior quality of work
- Strong organizational, problem solving, time management and adaptability skills
- Able to work independently with tight timelines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with or understanding of renewable energy systems and/or electrical systems.
- Experience with or understanding of construction and/or project development.
- Experience working with, engineering, architecture or property management industries.
- Experience developing sales and pricing tools to streamline proposal development.
- Experience in new product launch and/or creating a business plan, including customer segmentation and profiling, financial forecasting and marketing strategies.
- You enjoy learning and are excited at the opportunity to become a product/market expert in the areas of solar, renewables, energy storage and electric vehicles.
- You enjoy conversing with people, and you are never afraid to pick up the phone and call someone to follow-up or check in.
