Wildsight Kimberley Cranbrook (WKC) is currently seeking a driven and organized individual with experience in organizing fundraising campaigns and leading communications for a non-profit, or business. This individual will be in charge of creating all outward facing media and promoting each of the programs at the branch, as well as arranging annual events, like the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour, or dreaming up new events to help raise funds. JOB DESCRIPTION

The Communications & Fundraising Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Social media management; raising awareness of the organization, celebrating the work of WKC, event and program promotion, and joining social conversations around topics relevant to the branch.
  • Reviewing grant applications as requested by the Branch Manager to raise funds for current and potential programs and projects.
  • Seeking local-for-profit partnerships to establish additional funding streams for WKC.
  • Organizing annual events and fundraising campaigns, such as:
    • Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour,
    • Co-Community Cleanup,
    • E-Bike Raffle,
    • Field to Fork,
    • Wild Ideas.
  • Preparing monthly reports for the Board of Directors regarding status and progress toward goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

COMMUNICATIONS

  • Run WKC’s social media activity in consultation with colleagues and the Branch Manager, including building and managing the monthly schedule.
  • Work in tandem with the Branch Manager to produce monthly newsletters.
  • Oversee the creation of all communications materials (including but not limited to articles, newsletters, posters, social media content) to ensure they adhere with WKC’s voice and visual style guide.
  • Ensure that social media posts and responses are timely and relevant, and match with WKC’s strategy and project objectives.
  • Work independently to create and design content including social media graphics, short videos etc.
  • Engage local artists and experts to lend their art and voice to our channels – where appropriate.
  • Monitor audience growth and effectiveness.

FUNDRAISING & GRANT WRITING

  • Direct fundraising campaigns in concert with the Branch Manager.
  • Identify and work with local-for-profit businesses to establish mutually beneficial, strategic fundraising projects.
  • Assist with writing grant applications to source funding across WKC’s current and potential projects.
  • Support event promotion for fundraisers in Kimberley and Cranbrook; including strategic communications, media and public relations, copy writing and art production.
  • Liaise with the Branch Manager in determining priorities or opportunities for funding programs.

GENERAL

  • Support work with subcommittees and attending Board Meetings as needed.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to raise awareness of Wildsight Kimberley Cranbrook Branch programs and projects.

DESIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications, however we are willing to work with the right candidate should they be passionate about the role:

  • Knowledge of Wildsight’s organization mission and mandate
  • Experience in:
    • social media management,
    • successful fundraising,
    • working with multiple stakeholder groups and partners,
    • grant application writing is an asset.
  • Awareness of local, provincial, and federal First Nations issues with a desire to be involved in reconciliation and collaboration.
  • Extraordinary self-motivation, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer relations and communications skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and creative eye for photography (camera supplied).
  • Proficient computer and social media/marketing skills. Familiarity with the following programs, or similar, is considered an asset:
    • Canva,
    • Wordpress,
    • Instagram,
    • Facebook,
    • Google Suite,
    • Later.
  • Post-Secondary education and/or relevant experience in a related field such as Marketing, Communications, PR and/or Digital Marketing.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Access to a home office, computer and internet or willingness to work in a shared office.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle capable of transporting marketing display’s and/or program equipment.

This is a 12 hour per week staff position with a starting wage of $24 per hour + 4% vacation pay. The position can be based out of your home office and/or our Kimberley office.
