Overview:

Established in 1995, Kootenay Christian Academy is committed to providing families in Cranbrook and surrounding areas with exceptional educational experiences grounded in Biblical principles. Our goal is to empower students to reach their fullest potential in a nurturing and respectful environment, encouraging them to explore their faith, the world around them, and their unique roles within it.

Currently serving over 325 students from preschool through grade 12, we strive to tailor our programs to meet individual needs while upholding the values instilled at home. Our graduates emerge as capable leaders, firmly rooted in their faith, equipped to articulate a Christian worldview and embody it in their daily lives with integrity and wisdom.

Kootenay Christian Academy seeks a spiritually mature and visionary leader who is committed to excellence in all aspects of education and is capable of promoting and implementing the school’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, financial insight, and the enthusiasm and vision necessary to support the expansion of KCA. The Principal will report to the Board and will be responsible for delivering high-quality education and effective leadership at KCA.

Candidate Profile:

Professional Qualifications:

  1. Master's degree or relevant experience in educational administration is preferred.
  2. Proven experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining a K-12 curriculum that meets educational standards.
  3. A history of passionate engagement in education.
  4. A strong commitment to Christian education.
  5. Exceptional organizational skills.
  6. A collaborative approach to decision-making and strategic planning.
  7. Demonstrated leadership abilities that encompass both pastoral and professional elements.
  8. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  9. A capacity to articulate an inspiring vision, set ambitious goals, prioritize effectively, and delegate responsibilities for success.

Job Responsibilities:

Vision & Strategy:

  1. Lead the school with purpose and authenticity, building on a solid foundation guided by the mission and vision of Kootenay Christian Academy.
  2. Collaborate with the Board to create and implement a strategic plan that shapes the future for families seeking education rooted in Christian values.

Management:

  1. Be a visible, accessible, and approachable leader.
  2. Develop a strong partnership with the Board, fostering relationships based on transparency, collaboration, and trust.
  3. Work with the Board to refine long-term vision, strategic plans, and goals that enable KCA to operate effectively and meet its financial commitments.
  4. Collaborate with the Board and Business & Finance Manager to ensure sound financial and resource management.
  5. Partner with the Director of Advancement to align families with the mission and vision of Kootenay Christian Academy.
  6. Empower the management team to achieve excellence in their respective areas.

Education & Curriculum:

  1. Possess a comprehensive understanding of instructional practices across K-12.
  2. Work with educators to establish rigorous academic goals and ensure the implementation of essential curriculum and assessments.
  3. Integrate Biblical principles into curriculum and daily instruction.
  4. Commit to meeting the diverse learning needs of students, fostering their growth and celebrating their God-given talents.
  5. Engage staff in opportunities for professional growth and skill enhancement.
  6. Promote a positive and safe educational environment.

Team Development:

  1. Adopt innovative strategies for recruiting and retaining exceptional educators and staff.
  2. Identify and cultivate effective leaders, enhancing capacity in others.
  3. Encourage educators and staff to collaborate in improving existing programs and extracurricular activities.
  4. Ensure robust succession planning across all key positions.

Fundraising and Engagement:

  1. Support the Advancement Coordinator in fundraising initiatives and relationship-building with alumni and potential supporters.
  2. Play a key role in fostering a sustainable culture of giving through compelling communication of our mission, vision, and strategic objectives.

Community Engagement:

  1. Effectively communicate the mission, vision, and strategic plan of Kootenay Christian Academy to all stakeholders.
  2. Partner with families and the school community through consistent and effective communication.
  3. Build strong relationships with independent school organizations and local government.
  4. Establish connections with area churches and community leaders.
  5. Foster partnerships with community organizations to enhance collaboration between the school and the community.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $105,000.00-$115,000.00 per year
