Overview:

Kootenay Christian Academy, established in 1995, is devoted to providing families in Cranbrook and surrounding areas with exceptional educational experiences grounded in Biblical principles. Our goal is to empower every student to reach their fullest potential in a secure and respectful environment, encouraging them to explore their faith, the world around them, and their unique roles within it.

Currently serving over 325 students from preschool through grade 12, we are a vibrant community that designs programs tailored to meet individual student needs while upholding the values nurtured at home. Our graduates emerge as capable leaders, firmly rooted in Christ, equipped to articulate a distinctly Christian worldview and embody it with character, integrity, and wisdom.

Kootenay Christian Academy seeks a spiritually mature and visionary leader who is committed to excellence in all endeavors and can effectively implement and advocate for the school's mission, vision, and strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, financial insight, and the enthusiasm and vision necessary to support KCA's growth. A deep commitment to Christian education and a comprehensive understanding of exemplary Christian teaching and learning practices are essential. The Principal will report to the Board, ensuring the delivery of high-quality education and effective leadership and management of KCA.

Candidate Profile:

Professional Qualifications:

  1. Preferred: Master's degree or relevant experience in educational administration.
  2. Proven experience in developing, implementing, and sustaining a K-12 curriculum that meets educational objectives.
  3. A history of passionate engagement in education.
  4. A strong commitment to Christian education.
  5. Exceptional organizational skills.
  6. A collaborative approach to decision-making and strategic planning.
  7. Demonstrated leadership capabilities that blend pastoral care with professional expertise.
  8. Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  9. Ability to articulate an inspiring vision, establish ambitious goals, prioritize strategically, and delegate effectively.

Job Responsibilities:

Vision & Strategy:

  1. Guide the school with purpose and authenticity, building on a solid foundation aligned with Kootenay Christian Academy's Mission and Vision.
  2. Collaborate with the Board to develop and execute a strategic plan that shapes the future for families seeking education rooted in Christian values.

Management:

  1. Be a visible, accessible, and approachable leader.
  2. Foster a strong partnership with the Board, cultivating relationships based on transparency, collaboration, and trust.
  3. Work with the Board to refine long-term vision, strategic plans, and goals that enable KCA to operate effectively and meet its financial commitments.
  4. Collaborate with the Board and Business & Finance Manager to ensure sound financial and resource management.
  5. Partner with the Director of Advancement to align families with KCA's mission and vision.
  6. Empower the management team to achieve excellence in their respective areas.

Education & Curriculum:

  1. Possess a strong grasp of instructional practices (literacy and numeracy K-12).
  2. Work with teachers to establish rigorous academic goals and plans, ensuring the implementation of essential curriculum and assessment.
  3. Incorporate Biblical principles directly into curriculum and daily instruction.
  4. Commit to meeting the specific needs and abilities of students, challenging them to grow and celebrating their God-given talents and passions.
  5. Engage staff with opportunities for professional growth and skill enhancement.
  6. Foster a positive and safe educational environment.

Team Development:

  1. Adopt a creative approach to recruiting and retaining outstanding educators and staff.
  2. Identify and nurture effective leaders, building capacity in others.
  3. Encourage and empower educators and staff to work both individually and collectively to enhance the effectiveness of programs and extracurricular activities.
  4. Ensure robust succession planning is established across all key positions.

Fundraising and Engagement:

  1. Support the Advancement Coordinator in fundraising initiatives and cultivating relationships with alumni and potential supporters.
  2. Play a key role in fostering a strong, sustainable culture of giving through compelling communication of our mission, vision, and strategic objectives.

Community Engagement:

  1. Effectively communicate Kootenay Christian Academy's mission, vision, and strategic plan to teachers, administrators, parents, students, community members, and stakeholders.
  2. Partner with families and the school community through effective and consistent communication.
  3. Build strong relationships with independent school organizations and local government.
  4. Establish and nurture connections with area churches and leadership.
  5. Develop positive working relationships between the school and community organizations.

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation: $105,000.00-$115,000.00 per year
