DHC is hiring skilled workers who have experience in telecommunications, security, or electrical systems. You will be responsible for carrying out installation duties under the direction of a highly experienced lead technician who will help build your experience and knowledge while your career with us evolves. Our scope of work covers all phases of construction from designing, rough-in, installation/termination, testing and commissioning.
Electrical apprentices will find your skills are very transferable and applicable to our field of work and the hours are applicable to your ITA ticket. Our scope of work covers all phases of construction from Designing, rough-in, installation/termination, testing and commissioning.
**Responsibilities**
- Install, test and troubleshoot communication cabling systems including copper and fiber optics.
- Installation and service of intrusion alarms, access control and CCTV
- Mechanical and fusion fiber optic splicing.
- Running, pulling, terminating and splicing copper and fiber optic cables (CAT5, CAT6, coax, low voltage cables, telco, singlemode, multimode).
- Mount telecommunication equipment, routers, switches etc. all while following industry standards, best practices and manufacturer requirements.
- Building data and network racks
- Work with specifications, drawings and plans
- Work with a variety of trades on site.
- Tracking materials, labour and equipment used on jobs.
- Personal time and location reporting
- Operate overhead lift equipment including boom lifts, scissor lifts and bucket trucks
- Install and maintain outdoor communications systems including line/pole installations
- Retrofit existing buildings to newer fiber technology
**Technical Qualifications**
- Overall low to moderate experience in low voltage, fiber, and data cable installations.
- Experience in many of the systems below is of benefit: _EMT and rough-in phases of construction. Specialized tools such as: OTDR, fiber splicer, Multi-meter, Data cable tester, and a variety of other testing equipment is a benefit. Familiar with systems similar to BOSCH, ICT, DSC & Avigilon alarm and access control systems is a Benefit. Ability to work in MDU, MXU, and FTTH installations. Experience with FOSC building and configuring is a benefit. Document network by labelling cables, and recording as built diagrams and specifications. This includes Fluke testing of installations._
- Install or maintain existing fire stopping in conduits, trays, wall/ceiling/floor penetrations
