Job Description:

Opportunity:

Parsons Halifax is hiring for a Structural Bridge Engineer Co-op to join our team in downtown Halifax. Within our eastern Canada region, we have a number of senior engineers with expertise in: bridge inspection, suspension bridges, steel plate girder bridges, prestressed concrete, cable stayed bridges, truss bridges, and movable bridges. In addition to local and regional projects, the office is frequently collaborating with teams around the country and around North America. It is an ideal environment in which to master, practice, and expand your engineering knowledge, and it creates opportunities to propel your career forward. Parsons engineers must be versatile, enthusiastic, team-oriented, and have exceptional communication, analytical and management skills.

Responsibilities:

  • As part of a team, develops engineering products that meet and exceeds customer quality requirements. This includes defining the problem, establishing the work scope, preparing the budget and schedule, planning the work, providing technical direction, and reporting the work status.
  • Work in the capacity of bridge project engineer on medium to large projects.
  • Typical products may include detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses.
  • Performs inspection of existing bridges and associated structures including coordination of inspection teams and specialized sub-consultants, performing field work, providing repair recommendations, and completing life cycle cost analysis.
  • Provides support for other engineering activities as required.
  • Helps determine budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule. May assist with other administrative and technical duties.
  • Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters.
