Role Overview

Under the guidance of the Chief Estimator, you will gain valuable experience in supporting and leading a range of project initiatives within our Nova Scotia operations. As a key member of the team, you will engage in practical work assignments that will enhance your career skills.

Responsibilities of the Estimating Student:

  • Assist in the creation of tender documentation.
  • Engage with trade contractors and suppliers for project support.
  • Develop and compile unit pricing.
  • Conduct and revise quantity take-offs.
  • Maintain updated lists for requests for information.
  • Acquire knowledge of trade scope definitions and local market dynamics.
  • Understand various contractual terms and conditions.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Pursuing a degree or diploma in civil engineering or architectural technology.
  • Competence in performing quantity take-offs.
  • Ability to execute unit pricing tasks.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints.
  • Enthusiasm for working within the construction sector.
  • Familiarity with conceptual estimating principles.
  • Understanding of different contract types, including Lump Sum, Design Build, Project Management, Construction Management, and Public/Private Partnership.
  • Strong computer proficiency, particularly with spreadsheets and design software.
  • Experience with MS Excel, Primavera, On-screen Takeoff, and Bluebeam is advantageous.
