Position Overview
Under the guidance of the Chief Estimator, you will gain valuable experience in supporting and leading diverse project initiatives within our Nova Scotia operations. As a vital team member, you will engage in practical assignments that enhance your career skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the creation of tender documentation.
- Engage with trade contractors and suppliers for project support.
- Develop and maintain unit pricing.
- Conduct and revise quantity take-offs.
- Update lists for requests for information.
- Learn to interpret trade scope definitions and local market dynamics.
- Gain insights into various contractual terms and conditions.
- Pursuing a degree or diploma in civil engineering or architectural technology.
- Capability to perform quantity take-offs.
- Ability to execute unit pricing.
- Proficient in reading blueprints.
- Genuine interest in the construction field.
- Understanding of conceptual estimating principles.
- Familiarity with different contract types such as Lump Sum, Design Build, Project Management, Construction Management, and Public/Private Partnership.
- Strong computer proficiency, particularly with spreadsheets and design software.
- Experience with MS Excel, Primavera, On-screen Takeoff, and Bluebeam is advantageous.
