As a Facilitator, Anti-Racism with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:
Be responsible for supporting the commitment to advance inclusion and cultural safety within Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). Be involved in the ongoing development and implementation of the organization’s equity diversity and inclusion (EDI) training programs in a way that is relevant to the values and strategic directions of the organization and with the goal of enhancing the organization’s capacity to deliver health services in an inclusive and culturally safe manner. Provide support to address specific EDI training needs (. trauma-informed practices, unconscious bias and inclusive behaviours). Be a subject matter expert and contribute and participate in the development and critical review of guidelines/policies, systems and processes to support the promotion of EDI and cultural safety throughout the continuum of health services. Have the ability to facilitate and contribute to developing the curriculum required for the training to improve the competencies of the VCH workforce. Collaborate and support the development of all training with colleagues in other health departments to ensure appropriate staff development and participation in education, and that the EDI lens is applied to the development of all initiatives and programs. Work collaboratively with the Leadership Development (LD) team and other internal/external stakeholders to lead the organization to meet its goal of promoting inclusive and culturally safe VCH services.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in Adult Learning or a related discipline. Three (3) years’ recent, related experience in counselling, coaching, mentoring, training, conflict resolution and provision of facilitation and training. These experiences will include the ability to apply a trauma-informed approach to learning and development.Knowledge & Abilities
In depth knowledge and understanding of diversity, inclusion and anti-racism issues in BC and Canada Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated highly specialized skills in assessing and managing conflict in often intercultural, emotionally charged, and complex learning environments. Demonstrated ability to build positive and mutually beneficial intercultural relationships. Demonstrated ability to lead, problem solve, and utilize team building skills. Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, work independently and collaboratively in a work environment. Demonstrated ability to deal with intercultural and intersectional issues sensitively. Demonstrated ability to design education material and lesson plans. Ability to utilize strong interpersonal skills to deal with others effectively. Requires strong analysis, critical thinking and problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to teach, coach and mentor all levels of care providers. Commitment to ongoing professional development. Proven ability to work well under pressure, either related to deadlines or unforeseen circumstances. Ability to operate related equipment, including computer hardware and software. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
