Senior Indigenous Cultural Safety and Anti-Racism Lead

We are seeking an experienced Senior Indigenous Cultural Safety and Anti-Racism Lead to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering on our organization's commitments to Indigenous Specific Anti-Racism, including those within the Physician Master Agreement.
This role ensures the advancement of initiatives to proactively address Anti-Indigenous specific racism in physician service delivery, strengthen the provision of culturally safe care, and improve the experience of care for Indigenous Peoples (First Nations, Metis, and Inuit) on behalf of Doctors of BC and the Joint Collaborative Committees.
The Senior Indigenous Cultural Safety and Anti-Racism Lead will oversee the organization's ISAR CS initiatives, including employee and member-facing activities, while ensuring integration of ISAR CS principles and practices throughout the organization.
This position requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills to cultivate trusting and respectful connections and relationships with community leaders, educators, Elders, and leaders from First Nation, Inuit, and Metis communities.
Key Responsibilities- Provides leadership, oversight, and strategic advice related to the deliverables of the organization's ISAR portfolios and identifies areas of risk and provides recommendations to ensure effective management of those risks to leadership.
- Maintains knowledge of ISAR and Cultural Safety-related issues, trends, legislation, and best practices.
- Provides guidance and expertise on how anti-racist principles can be integrated and actioned within the Operations Department and across the organization.
- Collects and analyzes data to evaluate the organization's ISAR CS initiatives in accordance with defined industry standards and goals.
- Supports the operational components of the ISAR and EDI team, including day-to-day leadership, employee development, mentorship, and guidance for direct reports inclusive of staff responsible for ISAR and CS.

Requirements- Must be of Indigenous ancestry (i.e., Turtle Island - self-identify as First Nations, Metis, or Inuit).
- Must possess a deep knowledge and respect of Indigenous culture and traditions and understand the diversity of First Nations, Metis, and Inuit cultures.
- Significant experiences with Indigenous cultures, communities, and organizations and experience working with Indigenous communities, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers.
- Completed graduate university degree AND/OR recognized professional designation in a specialized field, AND up to six years of progressive and related experience; OR having an equivalent level of related work experience in-lieu of post-secondary education.
- Previous experience leading and facilitating equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives in a complex organization.
- Strategic and tactical problem-solving approaches, and ability to convert strategic objectives into tangible action plans and results.
