Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sales and Marketing professional to join our team as an Assistant Director of Sales and Marketing at Marriott International. This role will be responsible for generating top-line revenue and RevPAR for our properties through a successful revenue management strategy and revenue production in assigned Association markets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Achieve individual monthly revenue goals and monthly solicitation goals.
  • Attend industry events and tradeshows to develop new opportunities while representing our hotels.
  • Actively solicit and generate Association conference business with guest rooms and food and beverage.
  • Monitor group sales teams' progress toward their monthly individual revenue goals and solicitation goals, providing feedback or setting strategy sessions to help group sales associates succeed.
  • Assist in the development of team sales action plans, forecasting, and evaluating trends to modify strategies that will enhance revenues effectively.
  • Ensure competitive shop calls are being conducted.
  • Assist in leading, training, and mentoring group sales managers, identifying each sales manager's opportunities for improvement and assisting in their development.
  • Assist in the production of annual hotel business plans.
  • Assist in the development and maintaining of the departmental budget.
  • Lead property revenue meetings and ensure revenue maximization and profit in all areas in the absence of the Director of Sales.
  • Ensure timely submission of required reports to the Director of Sales and Marketing and/or General Manager.
  • Participate in local networking organizations and maintain good rapport with local civic groups and companies.
  • Assist the Director of Sales and Marketing with recruitment of new Sales team members.
  • Lead the sales team by positive example, ensuring group sales team members are a positive reflection of the hotel at all times.
  • Assist sales managers in closing business as may be needed.
  • Assist with developing, managing, and maintaining vendor relations.
  • Work closely with the revenue management team to ensure accurate forecasting of revenues with the most updated information.
Requirements
  • Must be legally entitled to work full-time hours in Canada.
  • Must have a minimum of 2-3 years of sales experience in a similar capacity in a full-service hotel.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Must have excellent guest service skills.
  • Must have proven strong negotiating skills.
  • Prior experience with CI/TY is an asset.
