Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sales and Marketing Director to join our team at Marriott International. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for driving revenue growth and developing strategic partnerships to enhance our hotel's market presence.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Revenue Growth: Achieve individual monthly revenue goals and solicitation targets through effective sales strategies and relationship-building.
  2. Industry Events: Attend industry conferences and tradeshows to identify new business opportunities and represent our hotel in a professional manner.
  3. Association Conference Business: Proactively solicit and generate Association conference business, including guest rooms and food and beverage sales.
  4. Team Performance: Monitor group sales team progress toward individual revenue goals and solicitation targets, providing feedback and guidance to ensure success.
  5. Strategic Planning: Assist in developing team sales action plans, forecasting revenue trends, and modifying strategies to enhance revenue growth.
  6. Leadership and Development: Assist in leading, training, and mentoring group sales managers, identifying areas for improvement and providing guidance for development.
  7. Annual Business Plans: Assist in the production of annual hotel business plans, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
  8. Departmental Budget: Assist in developing and maintaining the departmental budget, ensuring effective resource allocation.
  9. Revenue Maximization: Lead property revenue meetings, ensuring revenue maximization and profit in all areas, in the absence of the Director of Sales.
  10. Reporting: Ensure timely submission of required reports to the Director of Sales and Marketing and/or General Manager.
  11. Networking: Participate in local networking organizations, maintaining good rapport with local civic groups and companies.
  12. Recruitment: Assist the Director of Sales & Marketing with recruitment of new Sales team members.
  13. Team Leadership: Lead the sales team by positive example, ensuring group sales team members are a positive reflection of the hotel at all times.
  14. Closing Business: Assist sales managers in closing business as needed.
  15. Vendor Relations: Assist with developing, managing, and maintaining vendor relations.
  16. Revenue Forecasting: Work closely with the revenue management team to ensure accurate forecasting of revenues with the most up-to-date information.
Requirements
  1. Work Authorization: Must be legally entitled to work full-time hours in Canada.
  2. Experience: Must have a minimum of 2-3 years sales experience in a similar capacity in a full-service hotel.
  3. Technical Skills: Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  4. Guest Service: Must have excellent guest service skills.
  5. Negotiation: Must have proven strong negotiation skills.
  6. CI/TY Experience: Prior experience with CI/TY an asset.
