About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Payroll and Benefits Administrator to join our team in Canada. This full-time position involves handling payroll processing, benefits administration, and related tasks with high accuracy and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly payroll for 380 employees, ensuring timely and accurate payments
- Manage payroll data within Ceridian Dayforce, payroll grid (Excel), and Global HRIS (Talentsoft)
- Process various payroll transactions, including new hires, terminations, transfers, employee changes, adjustments, and more
- Verify hours worked and ensure all eligible employees receive payment
- Preview pay changes and submit them for approval
- Review and verify pay reports
- Liaise with the finance department regarding cash requirements, bank debits, and journal entries
- Oversee accrued vacation, sick leave, and other benefits
- Manage taxable benefits and maintain relevant records
- Train new managers and supervisors on payroll systems and provide information about company policies
- Handle garnishments (family support and CRA)
- Prepare various reports for management review at month-end
- Support managers in preparing payroll budgets, verifying salary and benefits budgets against departmental allocations
- Group Benefit Administration
- Review and process invoices, ensuring accuracy and handling new members, terminations, changes, etc.
- Upload monthly benefits invoices and prepare journal entries for posting
- Update and maintain employee profiles on online systems for benefit providers
- Accurately and timely handle this information, including customer service issues
- Workers Compensation & EHT
- Prepare monthly and/or quarterly remittances (premium calculation) using online services and preparing journal entries for posting
- Complete necessary documents, employment letters, and payroll records, as well as e-filing
- Ongoing interaction and coordination with HR and Managers
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A college diploma in business administration, finance, or a related field of study
- Experience in payroll and benefits administration (2-3 years)
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills
- A high level of planning and organization
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment under time pressure
- Accuracy, numeracy, and attention to detail
- A customer-focused approach (internal and external)
- Process improvement drive
- Critical thinking skills
- A highly confidential, efficient, and reliable nature
