The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Ambulatory Surgical Care, and under the supervision of the Clinical Leader, the Ward Clerk performs a variety of reception and clerical duties required for the efficient operation of Shared Clinics. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: answering phones; health record maintenance; data entry, ordering patient tests, ordering and maintaining office supplies; and other duties as requested. The Ward Clerk interacts with colleagues, patients, families, students, and the public respectfully and collaboratively in keeping with principles of family-centered care, and Health Centre standards to meet the needs of women, children, youth, and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Answering phones and responding to inquiries
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date health records
  • Performing data entry and ordering patient tests
  • Ordering and maintaining office supplies
  • Providing excellent customer service and interacting with patients, families, and staff
Requirements

Education: Minimum High School Diploma or GED, required

Skills: Demonstrated accurate keyboarding and data entry skills, required. Knowledge of Meditech (PCI, Order entry) required. Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, etc)

Preferred Qualifications: Completion of a recognized Secretarial or Office Administration Diploma Program, preferred. Previous experience in a similar role, preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, preferred. Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred.
