Ward Clerk, Shared Clinics Position

Reporting to the Manager, Ambulatory Surgical Care, and under the supervision of the Clinical Leader, the Ward Clerk performs a variety of reception and clerical duties required for the efficient operation of Shared Clinics. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: answering phones; health record maintenance; data entry, ordering patient tests, ordering and maintaining office supplies; and other duties as requested. The Ward Clerk interacts with colleagues, patients, families, students, and the public respectfully and collaboratively in keeping with principles of family-centered care, and Health Centre standards to meet the needs of women, children, youth, and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Answering phones and responding to inquiries
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date health records
- Performing data entry and ordering patient tests
- Ordering and maintaining office supplies
- Providing excellent customer service and interacting with patients, families, and staff
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum High School Diploma or GED, and have demonstrated accurate keyboarding and data entry skills. Knowledge of Meditech (PCI, Order entry) is required, as well as proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, etc). Completion of a recognized Secretarial or Office Administration Diploma Program is preferred, as is previous experience in a similar role. Knowledge of medical terminology is also preferred, and competencies in other languages are an asset.
