Lead HSE Manager, Heavy Civil Construction

A challenging role is available for a Lead HSE Manager to join Conwest Contracting Ltd.
About the Role:We are seeking an experienced and skilled Lead HSE Manager to lead our team in ensuring a safe working environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of Canadian/BC HSE regulations, WCB requirements, standards, and best practices.
About You:You will have a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, along with 15 years of experience in construction safety management, preferably in heavy civil construction industry practices and processes.
Responsibilities:- Develop, implement, and maintain the corporate HSE strategy, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable HSE regulations and standards.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential risks and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Manage all aspects of Worksafe BC's Certificate of Recognition (COR) program.
- Develop and maintain effective cross-divisional communications with project and corporate personnel to ensure a coordinated and efficient corporate approach to program and service delivery.
- Education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in construction safety management, ideally with a focus on heavy civil construction industry practices and processes.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian/BC HSE regulations, WCB requirements, standards, and best practices.
- Proven track record of successful HSE strategy development, cultural change initiatives and implementation.
- Demonstrated experience in report writing to a senior level.
- Demonstrated capability to develop and nurture business relationships with industry leaders and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in HSE management systems and software.
- High ethics, tact, diplomacy, and emotional intelligence.
- Thorough and detail-oriented, with good organizational and time management skills.
The estimated salary for this role is $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to the salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a retirement savings plan.
