Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nurse Specialist to join our team at Northern Health Authority. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the overall well-being of our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessment and Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of patients to identify their needs and develop individualized care plans.
  • Patient Care and Support: Provide direct patient care, including administering medications, performing medical procedures, and providing emotional support to patients and their families.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work effectively with the healthcare team to deliver high-quality patient care, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety, and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical histories, treatment plans, and progress notes.
Requirements:
  • Registration and Licensure: Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
  • Experience and Education: Three (3) years' full-time recent acute care experience involving intensive care, obstetrics, and emergency, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical and Mental Demands: Ability to carry out the duties of the position, including physical demands such as lifting and moving patients, and mental demands such as working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Equipment Operation: Ability to operate related equipment, including medical devices and software.
  • Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Ability to apply critical problem-solving skills and think critically in high-pressure situations.
