Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team at Northern Health Authority. As a Perianesthesia Nursing Specialist, you will provide direct nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures and provide education and training to nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to patients in the perioperative setting, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Develop and implement education programs for nursing staff on perianesthesia nursing care and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Operating Room Head Nurse to ensure seamless patient care and efficient workflow.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and nursing practice.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to perianesthesia nursing care.
Requirements
  • Current registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
  • One year recent experience in the Operating Room/Post-Anesthetic Room.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Demonstrated physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment such as blood pressure and oxygen saturation monitor, hydrotherapy blanket, operative instruments, endoscopes and scope washer.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of specialized procedures and techniques such as scrub, circulating and Post-Anesthetic and Endoscope Room nursing care.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of aseptic technique.
