Practical Nursing Specialist

Are you dedicated to providing exceptional nursing care? We invite you to consider joining our team as a Practical Nursing Specialist at Northern Health Authority. We are looking for a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse who is committed to delivering empathetic patient care.
In this role, you will operate within a collaborative clinical environment, adhering to the standards set by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to engage in direct patient care activities, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of interventions for patients in the Emergency Department.
Your responsibilities will include participating in discharge planning, advocating for patients, and educating patients and their families on health promotion and wellness. You will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for patients and their families, establishing and nurturing therapeutic relationships built on respect.
Under a collaborative care model, you will provide services to patients of all ages, managing stable and predictable health conditions by following established care plans. You will also recognize and respond to unexpected patient outcomes, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
Work Schedule: Rotating shifts including Days and Nights, from 07:00 to 19:00 and 19:00 to 07:00.

Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing program and at least one year of recent experience in a relevant care setting.
- Current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the BCCNM.
- Proficient in nursing practices related to emergency care and management of patients across the lifespan.
- Strong knowledge of common diagnoses and pathophysiology relevant to the patient population.
- Ability to perform nursing assessments and interventions effectively.
- Competence in making clinical judgments to ensure safe and ethical patient care.
- Skills in conflict resolution and managing challenging situations.
- Familiarity with medical equipment and documentation standards.
- Ability to engage in patient-centered care planning and education.
