About the Opportunity
University of Toronto Press is seeking an Executive Director of Global Business Development and Sales to lead our publishing division's sales and revenue growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a global business development strategy that drives revenue growth across UTP's products and services.
- Build and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders, including marketing, distribution, and editorial teams.
- Lead data-driven approaches to analyze market trends and customer needs, inform sales strategies, and drive business decisions.
- Oversee the sales budget, establish sales and profitability goals, and collaborate with the Vice President, Publishing to set capitalization requirements.
- Develop and manage a global network of sales and distribution agents in alignment with UTP's business priorities.
- Maintain effective relationships with key external collaborators, including authors, publishers, and industry partners.
- Meet regularly with the Publishing Leadership Team to communicate results and consult on operational activities.
- Manage relevant technology, such as sales tools and systems, to optimize sales performance.
Requirements
- A post-secondary graduate degree, preferably in business or a related field.
- 7-10 years of experience in sales/revenue generation, strategy, and business development roles, including staff management, in publishing or a related field.
- An inclusive and collaborative leader with a proven track record of building coaching cultures and effective team dynamics.
- Strategic thinker with intellectual curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning.
- Results-oriented individual with excellent negotiation skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, subscription management systems, and CRM systems (e.g., SalesForce).
