Job Description

The ideal candidate will have 2 years to less than 3 years of experience working with children in a daycare setting. You will be responsible for developing and implementing child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.

Your duties will include supervising staff, trainees, or volunteers; synthesizing the overall situation of the children and communicating the information to parents; assisting early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children; ordering supplies and equipment; and guiding and assisting children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.

You will also observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisor; discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings; establish guidelines for behavior; attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children; and establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have excellent interpersonal skills, including efficient communication, flexibility, reliability, and ability to multitask. You should also possess strong organizational and time management skills, as well as attention to detail.

In addition, you will need to have knowledge of licensing regulations and be a member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) with an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate.
