About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Youth Services Coordinator to join our Connections team at the Richmond Hill Housing Hub. In this role, you'll provide safe, supportive housing for at-risk youth, as well as a range of essential programs and services designed to help them get back on their feet.

As a Youth Services Coordinator, you'll work closely with youth to assess their immediate needs, provide support and guidance, and help them achieve success in transitioning to securing stable housing. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of vulnerable young people.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing safe and supportive housing for youth, including basic needs such as food, bedding, and hygiene
  • Responding to immediate needs and resolving conflicts in a trauma-informed and harm reduction-focused approach
  • Working with youth to develop and implement individualized case plans, goals, and activities
  • Completing intakes and assessments to determine eligibility for emergency housing and identify any immediate needs
  • Making referrals or warm transfers to internal programs and external supports as required
  • Encouraging youth to access community resources and connect with supports that can help them address challenges in their lives
  • Providing ongoing daily support, assistance, and encouragement to break cycles of poverty and homelessness

Qualifications and Skills Required:

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in a child and youth-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience working with youth
  • Minimum two years' experience working with at-risk or street-involved youth
  • Extensive knowledge of working with youth, including harm reduction principles and trauma-informed care
  • Demonstrated client-focused counseling skills and role modeling
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to adapt to unique qualities of each client
  • Broad knowledge of community resources and ability to advocate for clients and professional referrals
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification and current vulnerable sector screening (criminal background check)

Salary: $50,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience
