Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Finance to lead our financial operations and contribute to our company's continued success. In this role, you'll balance high-level financial strategy with a hands-on approach to the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Additionally, you'll play a key role in strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Reporting directly to senior management, you'll provide insights and help drive OrthoCanada Medical's long-term financial vision.

Key Responsibilities

Finance:

  1. Develop financial strategies to support business growth and expansion.
  2. Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and optimize financial performance.
  3. Prepare and monitor budgets; analyze variances and make data-driven decisions.
  4. Improve working capital management and cash flow forecasting.
  5. Conduct financial analysis and provide insights for management to inform strategic decisions.
  6. Oversee payroll, group benefits, and tax reporting (e.g., T4s) to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  7. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, including GAAP and IFRS.
  8. Identify and manage financial risks, including creating risk mitigation strategies to protect the company's assets.

Accounting:

  1. Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  2. Monitor and manage cash flow, including forecasting and liquidity management to ensure the company's financial stability.
  3. Manage month-end processes and prepare monthly financial statements to provide timely and accurate financial information.
  4. Oversee year-end processes, including inventory counts and preparing files for external auditors to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  5. Continuously improve accounting systems, controls, and reporting processes to safeguard assets and ensure the integrity of financial records.

General:

  1. Manage and mentor a team of 2 accounting professionals, fostering their development and ensuring high performance and productivity.
  2. Provide training to enhance the skills and knowledge of the accounting team to ensure they are equipped to handle complex financial tasks.
  3. Act as the primary liaison with auditors, banks, and financial institutions to ensure smooth communication and compliance.
  4. Support strategic planning and decision-making to achieve long-term company goals and objectives.
  5. Assist with pricing analyses and contribute to pricing strategies to ensure the company's financial stability and growth.
  6. Implement cost-saving initiatives and monitor cost structures to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  7. Stay informed on financial technology trends and integrate relevant tools to optimize processes and improve financial performance.

Qualifications:

  1. University degree in accounting or a related field.
  2. CPA accreditation or equivalent.
  3. Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial experience, with at least 5 years in a similar position.
  4. Bilingual: Proficiency in English and French, with strong written and verbal English communication skills.
