About the Role:

The Alberta Teachers' Association is seeking an experienced Administrative Officer to join our team. This full-time position offers a competitive salary of $85,000 per year.

Job Description:

As the Administrative Officer, you will support the program area by ensuring it operates efficiently. You will assist Association subgroups, sit as the Administrative Officer for select Association committees, prepare reports, coordinate workshops and seminars, and supervise support staff.

Your responsibilities will include guiding support staff by directing, overseeing, and managing their performance. You will also monitor their work to ensure they meet standards, requirements, and deadlines.

You will be responsible for hiring, training, and monitoring staff, providing them with access to professional development opportunities. Additionally, you will provide information to subgroups regarding their operations, prepare charters for new subgroups, track local anniversary dates, and prepare certificates.

You will also provide administrative support for subgroups revising their constitutions, tracking changes, recording reasons for change, reviewing drafts, and creating addenda. Furthermore, you will arrange annual training seminars for subgroup treasurers, secretaries, and webmasters.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field
  • Three years of progressive administrative and supervisory experience in a professional setting
  • Experience using Microsoft Power BI is an asset
  • Experience working in a member-driven association is an asset
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong customer-service, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to organize, plan, multitask, manage shifting priorities, and work with several stakeholders concurrently
