Account Manager - Life Science Research

The ideal candidate will demonstrate and sell Bio-Rad's diverse product line to life science research laboratories at academic, government, and biotech accounts. This includes working with existing clients as well as prospecting for new customers, qualifying leads, and providing pre- and post-sales customer training to ensure high customer satisfaction.

About the Role
  • We are seeking an experienced sales professional to join our team in Southwest Ontario and Manitoba.
  • This role involves regularly calling on current and prospective customers, with 80% of time expected to be spent in the field.
  • You will analyze the territory to create a quarterly financial and activity-based business plan consisting of accounts and major product goals.
  • Your primary focus will be on growing sales and profitability through in-person site visits, vendor shows, referrals, conferences, and live product demos/training.
Responsibilities
  1. Cultivate relationships with current and prospective customers to drive sales growth.
  2. Develop and implement targeted business plans to achieve sales objectives.
  3. Utilize Salesforce.com, Microsoft Office Suite, and other tools to manage the territory and track sales performance.
  4. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and competitors, communicating relevant information to the sales and management team.
  5. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by refining selling skills and understanding customer needs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Life Science or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • A minimum of 3 years of sales experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in the life science industry.
  • Proven ability to prepare, implement, and monitor business/marketing plans.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills, with the ability to sell value, upsell, quote, and close sales.
  • Excellent technical and practical knowledge of technologies used in life sciences, with direct knowledge of or ability to quickly learn Bio-Rad products and related competitors.
