Salary

The successful candidate will be compensated at the rate of $25.93-$29.17 per hour, within the CUP C03 band.

Job Description

This role involves working independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team in our Inpatient Mental Health department. Key responsibilities include:

  • Reception duties and telephone communication
  • Liaising with bed allocation for admissions and registration
  • Processing patient orders through computer systems
  • Arranging meetings and appointments
  • Typing and filing patient reports and letters
  • Processing patient charts and restocking new charts
  • Preparing materials for Health Records
  • Preparing and typing patient program pamphlets
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Recent experience as a Unit Secretary in a hospital setting
  • Excellent public relations, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and a minimum typing speed of 45 w.p.m.
  • Experience using Meditech and Community Wide Scheduling
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with emotional and mental health demands
  • Previous experience in mental health services is an asset
