Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Human Resources Associate to join our team at the District of West Vancouver. As a key member of our HR department, you will provide exceptional support to our team of HR professionals, Labour Relations, and Occupational Health & Safety experts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide thoughtful support to the HR team, including preparing sensitive and confidential correspondence, documents, and reports.
  • Offer front-line services and support to employees and managers in relation to HR processes, policies, collective agreements, and established interpretations.
  • Participate in the recruitment process, including leading line managers through full-cycle recruitment.
  • Create job postings and coordinate the District's online recruitment and application process.
  • Coordinate and lead specific District HR initiatives.
  • Support and contribute to the ongoing development, implementation, coordination, and administration of employee engagement programs.
  • Participate in confidential Labour Relations meetings by documenting and at times leading basic fact-gathering workplace investigations.
  • Assist with corporate training initiatives and programs, including developing themes, researching vendors, and organizing training sessions.
  • Assist with disability case management, WorkSafe BC reporting, and inquiries, as well as occupational health and wellness initiatives and processes.
  • Coordinate HR statistical data, including risk management and HR metrics.
  • Handle all aspects of Municipal Pension Plan queries.
Requirements
  • A general knowledge of HR policies, procedures, relevant acts, regulations, guidelines, and collective agreements.
  • A meticulous attention to detail.
  • A passion for labour relations and a keen demonstrated interest in progressing in a multi-union government environment.
  • The ability to develop relationships and communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge of the principles, standards, and practices of relevant areas of Human Resources.
  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Education and Experience

The successful candidate will have completed a degree or diploma in Human Resources or a related field, plus relevant experience working in a unionized environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered. A current BC Driver's License and full-time access to a vehicle is required.
