CGMH is a well-established 84-bed facility located in Collingwood, Ontario, catering to over 74,000 residents and welcoming 3.5 million visitors annually from surrounding areas. Our hospital provides a comprehensive range of acute care services, including emergency care, diagnostic imaging, and respiratory therapy, alongside two inpatient units focused on medicine and surgery. We also specialize in various fields such as obstetrics, orthopaedics, intensive care, and surgical services. Additionally, CGMH offers outpatient services, including dialysis and a variety of clinics for mental health and rehabilitation. Immunization Requirements:

A current immunization record is mandatory, including two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine series recognized by Health Canada or the World Health Organization, unless an approved exemption is in place under the Ontario Human Rights Code.

Employee Benefits:

This role includes 8% vacation pay and 14% pay in lieu of benefits, along with access to the Employee & Family Assistance Program and CGMH Perkopolis discounts. We also support the Health Care Providers Group Insurance Plan, which offers group benefits for you and your eligible dependents upon enrollment.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a College Diploma from an accredited Respiratory Program
  • Successful completion of the CBRC examination
  • Valid General Certificate of Registration with the CRTO
  • Current certifications in NRP, ACLS, and BCLS
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, and volunteers
  • Adherence to the responsibilities outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Proficient communication skills in English (both written and verbal); proficiency in additional languages is an asset
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Dedication to ongoing professional development
  • Ability to perform essential duties, including physical tasks such as patient transfers and mobility assistance
  • Proven track record of excellent attendance and performance
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Capability to work independently while effectively collaborating with the healthcare team

Preferred Experience/Education:

  • PALS certification
  • CRE certification

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive Respiratory Therapy services to the hospital, addressing both adult and pediatric populations, including neonates.
  • Assess patients and develop tailored treatment plans.
  • Educate and counsel patients and their families.
  • Advocate for continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
  • Conduct Electrocardiogram (ECG) testing.
  • Perform pulmonary function assessments.
