Role and Responsibilities

Are you enthusiastic about innovative and complex Defense and Security (D&S) training solutions? Do you aspire to influence the definition, quality, and effectiveness of training solutions? As a Technical Requirements Expert (TRE), you will play a pivotal role at the inception of proposals and projects, ensuring that our requirements are meticulously articulated to effectively scope the solution, guide development teams, and achieve customer training goals.

This role provides an opportunity to collaborate with a diverse network of technical leaders, domain specialists, proposal teams, project management professionals, verification and validation experts, system architecture authorities, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

As a member of the Systems Engineering team, the TRE leads the following initiatives:

  • Define and/or evaluate project and customer requirements for D&S and/or civil training devices and systems.
  • Collaborate with various technical experts and management teams to ensure all requirements are clear, comprehensive, verifiable, and attainable.
  • Work alongside training solutions specialists to confirm that the technical requirements for a training device or system provide valuable training and fulfill the customers' training objectives.
  • Organize and conduct System Requirements Review activities – both internal and with the customer (iSRR and SRR), including the allocation of requirements to different engineering specialties, assignment of attributes such as verification methods, and documentation of issue resolutions or references to official action items.
  • Collaborate with Proposal and Project Experts to ensure that risks driven by requirements are well understood and incorporated into project planning, monitoring, and control activities.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the CAE requirements management and development process, adhering to the guidelines of the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI).
  • Oversee the Requirement Technician (RT) tasks related to data entry and management of project requirements documentation in the DOORS Database.

As a member of the Systems Engineering team, the TRE participates in the following activities:

  • Assist business development and proposal teams during the bidding phase to define and comprehend training requirements.
  • Engage in the formulation of training solutions with Systems Architecture Specialists.
  • Support users of the requirements database during validation activities (tools, processes, etc.).
  • Aid in the ongoing assessment and update of requirements management tools.

Our ideal candidate possesses:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer, or Information Sciences.
  • At least 5 years of experience in aerospace or simulation and training systems design and development.
  • Familiarity with systems analysis and design, particularly in requirements engineering methods and tools.
  • Proficiency in both French and English, spoken and written.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities.
  • Solid analytical, planning, organizational, and collaborative skills.
  • Knowledge of various aeronautics and simulator systems (avionics, auxiliary systems, aerodynamics, motion systems, etc.) is advantageous.
  • Experience as a Project Expert (PE) or Verification & Validation (V&V) specialist is a plus.
  • Understanding of requirements analysis through user cases is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with computerized requirements management tools such as Telelogic DOORS or DOORS NG is a plus.
  • Programming experience (C, C++, Java, VBA, DXL, etc.) is an asset.
  • Must meet eligibility requirements for access to Controlled Goods.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a security clearance with access to NATO secret documents and comply with ITAR requirements.
