Position Overview

The Senior Integrated Training Solutions Manager plays a pivotal role within a specialized team of seasoned training development professionals dedicated to crafting comprehensive, end-to-end training systems for military and paramilitary organizations globally. This role harnesses CAE's advanced simulation technologies alongside premier educational methodologies and tools, targeting a diverse user base across air, naval, and land forces.

In close partnership with CAE's extensive network of domain specialists and industry collaborators, the Senior Manager spearheads the formulation of training solutions during the initial phases of customer engagement, significantly influencing the specifications for holistic training programs that encompass individual, team, and collective training.

The Senior Manager is accountable for ensuring that the integrated training solution is not only state-of-the-art but also cost-effective, tailored to meet client needs throughout the entire lifecycle of the training initiative. These solutions encompass the full spectrum of training modalities, from academic and simulation-based synthetic training to comprehensive live-virtual-constructive (LVC) environments that facilitate intricate immersive mission rehearsal scenarios.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the development of fully integrated Training Solutions from the initial customer engagement (pre-RFP) through to the Capture and Proposal phases, culminating in contract award.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and Design Authority for training solutions, engaging with all internal and external stakeholders, including clients and end-users.
  • Contribute to the training product R&D roadmap to define strategies that address current and future training needs using leading-edge learning methodologies and tools, while minimizing development and delivery costs.
  • Provide leadership to Capture Teams on significant training system integration (TSI) opportunities, focusing on various components of the proposed solution, including:
  • Conduct initial Training Task, Training Needs, and Training Media Analysis alongside technical leads, learning specialists, domain experts (SMEs), and customer representatives.
  • Utilize CAE technologies, standard products, and subcontractor capabilities to design a cohesive and optimal integrated training solution.
  • Employ modern tools and multidisciplinary teams to execute Training Solution design within established training development processes.
  • Collaborate with System Architects to ensure training requirements are clearly defined and translated into engineering and courseware specifications, including objective verification and validation criteria.
  • In partnership with Program Management, establish a successful execution strategy for major opportunities, incorporating make-buy analysis, strategic partner selection, and workshare definition, while considering any in-country/offset requirements.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive Solution Reviews to stakeholders, effectively communicating winning strategies and end-to-end technical, programmatic, and commercial solutions.
  • Facilitate, consolidate, and validate cost estimation and risk analysis from various stakeholders.
  • Identify potential execution and deliverable challenges, concerns, and risks related to the overall training solution design, deployment, and delivery phases.
  • Engage with clients and end-users to present and review training solutions, primarily during the pre-contract award business capture phases.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in the industry and/or military service, with at least 10 years focused on the development and/or delivery of training programs in operational and/or maintenance roles within the defense sector.
  • Experience with Canadian Forces is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record in leading large training development, integration, or engineering projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of training development processes, including:
    • Learning sciences, adult education, e-learning, etc.
    • System Approach to Training (SAT & DSAT) and Instructional Systems Design.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong ability to develop capture strategies and proposal storyboards, leveraging compelling themes and differentiators.
  • Solid business acumen and political insight.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering development processes.
  • Experience in managing large projects is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of CAE's training solutions and modeling and simulation systems is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 5% of the time.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain Canadian and NATO Secret Security Clearances.
