The Project Financial Analyst plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial aspects of projects and ensuring all accounting functions related to Johnson Controls' initiatives are effectively managed. Collaborating closely with the Operations Director, this position involves providing financial insights, managing cost models, and analyzing factors that influence pricing and product profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Communicate efficiently with Project Managers regarding contractual documents, amendments, and any additional services pertinent to billing. Engage in the budget formulation of proposed projects to guarantee consistent and effective budget development. Ensure the establishment and upkeep of monthly cash flow forecasts for all projects. Create and maintain a structured approach to guarantee that reports are thoroughly reviewed and approved, ensuring compliance with internal policies, regulations, and accounting standards. Develop comprehensive financial reports for project management, including burn rates and regularly updated cash flow forecasts, while establishing methods to report financial program metrics. Ensure timely execution of all financial activities and requirements associated with project closures. Prepare cost assessments for products and/or services to determine pricing and production/sales forecasts. Calculate burden rates, establish expense budgets for production, allocate costs across various projects, and categorize expenses into wages, materials, overhead, and service departments per project. Conduct all aspects of cost accounting for projects, including preparation, review, and analysis of product inventory costing, standard costing, overhead allocation, and variance analysis. Analyze operational variances, strategic sourcing opportunities, and logistics expenditures, identifying areas for improvement. Develop and maintain cost analysis tools for efficiency and labor costs, along with tracking systems. Provide real-time costing for all projects during the manufacturing and commissioning phases. Generate Proforma Invoicing, trending data, and job projection forecasts. Facilitate the development of ROI and contract strategies. Execute month-end processes for cost accounting. Conduct financial reconciliation at the end of each project. Enhance systems and processes to yield accurate cost accounting information. Collaborate with the Corporate Controller to align financial data and ensure consistency with values. Support periodic financial planning cycles for the Operations and Finance departments. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required. A minimum of 3 years' experience in project accounting is essential. Experience in the manufacturing or construction sector is preferred. Strong customer service orientation and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and management possessing varying degrees of financial knowledge. Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail are necessary. A high degree of initiative and flexibility is required to meet deadlines successfully. Capability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.

Working Conditions

Office environment. Manual dexterity is required to operate a desktop computer and peripherals. Occasional travel may be necessary.
