Job Summary

Melloy Industrial Services Inc is seeking a highly skilled Project Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for managing project-related financial transactions, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and providing financial analysis and support to project teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Transaction Management
    • Collect, reconcile, and process project-related trade contractor payments, general expenditures, and internal payroll costing allocations.
    • Ensure all financial transactions are completed in a timely and accurate manner to meet contract payment terms, legislation, and company policies.
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis
    • Review and analyze financial adjustments, submissions, and reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
    • Provide ad-hoc financial reports and analysis to project teams as required.
  • Financial Planning and Budgeting
    • Assist with year-end procedures and financial close processes.
    • Contribute to the development of financial forecasts and budgets for projects.
  • Compliance and Risk Management
    • Ensure all required documentation, including insurance, bonding, and statutory declarations, is in place.
    • Identify and communicate compliance and project risks to project teams and management.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field.
    • 1-2 years of progressive experience in project administration and accounting, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Skills and Knowledge
    • Advanced understanding of full-cycle accounting principles.
    • Intermediate understanding of project forecasting and budgeting.
    • Intermediate knowledge of project costing principles, recoveries, insurance, and contract/subcontract requirements.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with conflicting deadlines.
