Position Overview

The Contract Analyst at Smiths Medical plays a crucial role in assessing, drafting, and facilitating the negotiation of agreements with the Sales Division while managing responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs). This position is responsible for the implementation of contracts within the contracting system and for tracking the operational performance of these agreements.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assess contracts and pricing models to ensure adherence to legal and contractual standards, taking necessary actions to address compliance issues.
  2. Maintain and update the Model N contract management system based on new or revised contract terms.
  3. Coordinate and manage responses to RFPs relevant to the assigned region.
  4. Provide analytical data and insights for designated regions and contracts.
  5. Communicate regularly with the Sales Division to keep them informed about customer negotiations.
  6. Monitor contract expiration dates within the region and notify the Sales Division accordingly.
  7. Address incoming contracting inquiries or requests from the Sales Division.
  8. Support initiatives aimed at process enhancement, standardization, or strategic projects.
  9. Work collaboratively with the accounts receivable team to resolve billing discrepancies in line with contractual obligations.
  10. Participate in relevant project teams and collaborative workgroups.
  11. Engage in special projects as assigned.

Required Knowledge & Skills

  1. Strategic thinker with strong technical capabilities, analytical skills, sound judgment, and a focus on operational efficiency.
  2. Experience in the contracting process, including the review, modification, and standardization of contracts and terms and conditions.
  3. Familiarity with the Medical Surgical business model is preferred.
  4. Ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and engage diplomatically.
  5. Proficient in independently identifying, researching, and resolving issues.
  6. Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  7. Highly organized and self-motivated individual capable of working with minimal oversight.
  8. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record of gathering, interpreting, and evaluating information from diverse sources; capable of drawing logical conclusions and providing sound recommendations in a timely manner.
  9. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, economics, or a related field, or equivalent experience; an MBA is advantageous.
  3. A minimum of 4 years of experience in contracting, with at least 2 years in the Medical Industry.
  4. Experience in managing RFP processes.
  5. Prior experience with Model N is preferred.

Work Environment

  1. This role is primarily sedentary.
  2. Operates in a professional office setting and regularly utilizes standard office equipment.
  3. Travel requirements are typically less than 10%.
