Position Overview
The Contract Analyst at Smiths Medical plays a pivotal role in assessing, drafting, and facilitating the negotiation of agreements with the Sales Team while managing responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs). This position is tasked with executing contracts within the Contract Management system and overseeing the operational performance of these agreements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess contracts and pricing models to ensure adherence to legal and contractual standards, taking necessary actions to address compliance issues.
- Maintain and update the Model N contract management system in response to new or modified contract terms.
- Coordinate and manage responses to RFPs relevant to the assigned region.
- Deliver data analysis and insights for specific regions and contracts.
- Communicate extensively with the Sales Team to provide updates on customer negotiations.
- Track contract expiration dates within the region and inform the Sales Team accordingly.
- Address incoming contracting inquiries or requests from the Sales Team.
- Support initiatives aimed at process enhancement, standardization, or strategic projects.
- Work collaboratively with the accounts receivable team to resolve billing issues in line with contractual agreements.
- Participate in relevant project teams and working groups.
- Engage in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strategic thinker with strong technical skills, analytical capabilities, sound judgment, and a focus on operational excellence.
- Experience in the contracting process, including the review, modification, and standardization of contracts and terms and conditions.
- Familiarity with the Medical Surgical business model is preferred.
- Ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and act diplomatically.
- Proficient in independently identifying, researching, and resolving issues.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
- Highly organized and self-motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to gather, interpret, and evaluate information from diverse sources; establish connections between data points, draw logical conclusions, and provide sound recommendations in a timely manner.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, economics, or a related field, or equivalent experience; an MBA is advantageous.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in contracting, with at least 2 years in the Medical Industry.
- Experience in managing RFP processes.
- Prior experience with Model N is preferred.
Work Environment
- This role is primarily sedentary.
- Operates in a professional office setting and routinely utilizes standard office equipment.
- Travel requirements are typically less than 10%.
