The role requires a minimum of two (2) designated, consecutive days in the office every other week, along with an additional assigned day each month. Flexibility to work more frequently from the office is encouraged, and certain positions may necessitate increased in-office presence.


Role Overview:

The Senior Business Analyst Consultant will serve as the key intermediary between the Savings & Retirement division and IT partners on significant and intricate technology initiatives.

Extensive expertise in IT projects and robust analytical capabilities, including data evaluation, are essential to determine how technological solutions can address business challenges.

This position will primarily focus on projects characterized by high complexity and/or extensive impact on the organization, often functioning as the sole Business Analyst on the project.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and facilitate requirements analysis and review, pinpointing the most effective requirements to fulfill business objectives.
  • Evaluate IT estimates and ascertain the Minimal Viable Product (MVP) necessary to achieve business advantages while balancing project costs and timelines.
  • Engage in strategic planning through the development of feasibility studies and business cases.
  • Consult with management regarding business needs, stakeholder requirements, opportunities, and operational efficiency, providing recommended solutions for process enhancements.
  • Document requirements and conduct requirements review sessions with business sponsors, project stakeholders, and IT partners.
  • Participate in technical analysis meetings and daily stand-ups with IT partners, supporting Systems Analysts in the creation of functional specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with developers and other IT resources to advocate for business interests, ensuring user satisfaction.
  • Work in conjunction with Quality Assurance Analysts to ensure that the testing strategy mitigates business risks.
  • Support and coordinate User Acceptance Testing by aiding in planning, test case development, test execution, and considering automated testing methodologies.
  • Assist in post-implementation testing, ensuring comprehensive user testing to prevent production issues.
  • Identify and escalate project risks and challenges.
  • Develop and implement a Process Redesign plan, guiding and mentoring the business through the implementation while ensuring effective change management.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship for Business Analysts and User Acceptance Testers across all experience levels by identifying gaps and delivering training.
  • Manage project scope, timelines, reporting, issue tracking, and escalation for non-IT projects.

Qualifications:

Post-secondary degree or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

A minimum of 5 years in a Lead Business Analyst or Systems Analyst role on large IT projects, preferably within the financial services or insurance sectors.

Strong background in Process Redesign, including data modeling, transaction flow analysis, internal control and risk assessment, as well as modern business methodologies and performance measurement techniques.

Expertise in Business Analysis processes, tools, and techniques.

Experience in developing, coaching, and mentoring Business Analysts and User Acceptance Testers, from junior to senior levels.

Proven track record in the creation and execution of training programs.

Ability to draft business cases, project plans, schedules, and budgets.

Familiarity with agile development methodologies and product ownership.

Experience in formulating non-functional requirements (e.g., application performance, scalability, throughput).

Strong organizational and time management skills, complemented by well-developed project management capabilities.

Business Analyst Certification or substantial prior experience in a Business Analyst role.


Technical Proficiencies:

Proficient in MS Office, HP ALM/Quality Center, and familiarity with Test Automation Tools is advantageous.
