Position: Business Analyst Consultant, Savings & Retirement (S&R)
Reports To: Director, Digital Experience
Department: Savings and Retirement
Employment Type: Permanent Full-Time

Work Arrangement: This position offers a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum of two consecutive days in the office every other week, along with an additional assigned day each month. Flexibility to work more from the office is encouraged, and certain roles may necessitate more frequent office presence.

Role Overview: The Business Analyst Consultant serves as the key liaison between the Savings & Retirement division and the IT partners, managing large and complex technology initiatives. This role demands extensive experience in IT projects and robust analytical skills, particularly in data analysis, to effectively address business challenges through technological solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead comprehensive requirements analysis, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Evaluate IT project estimates and establish the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) to optimize business outcomes while considering project costs and timelines.
  • Engage in strategic planning by developing feasibility studies and business cases.
  • Consult with management to identify business needs, stakeholder expectations, and opportunities for operational enhancements.
  • Document requirements and facilitate review sessions with business sponsors and project stakeholders; requirements encompass functional, non-functional, and user stories/features.
  • Participate in technical discussions with IT partners and assist Systems Analysts in crafting functional specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with developers and IT resources to advocate for business interests and ensure user satisfaction.
  • Work alongside Quality Assurance Analysts to devise a test strategy that mitigates business risks.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing by planning, developing test cases, executing tests, and considering automated testing approaches.
  • Assist in creating user documentation, instructions, and procedures.
  • Oversee post-implementation testing to ensure comprehensive user testing and resolution of production issues.
  • Identify and escalate project risks and challenges.
  • Develop and implement a Process Redesign plan, guiding the business through effective change management.
  • Provide mentorship and training for Business Analysts and User Acceptance Testers across all experience levels.
  • Manage project scope, timelines, reporting, and issue tracking for non-IT projects.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years as a Lead Business Analyst or Systems Analyst on significant IT projects, preferably in the financial services or insurance sectors.
  • Proven expertise in Process Redesign, including data modeling and transaction flow analysis.
  • In-depth knowledge of Business Analysis methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Experience in developing and mentoring Business Analysts and User Acceptance Testers.
  • Strong ability to draft business cases, project plans, and budgets.
  • Familiarity with systems development methodologies and agile practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a strong capacity for critical thinking.
  • Exceptional documentation and presentation skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, complemented by project management capabilities.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Business Analyst Certification or substantial experience in a similar role.
  • Technical Proficiencies: MS Office, MS Visio, HP ALM/Quality Center, and familiarity with Test Automation Tools is advantageous.
