Position Overview: The Business Analyst Consultant will serve as the main point of contact between the Savings & Retirement division and IT partners on significant technology initiatives. This role demands extensive experience with IT projects and strong analytical skills, particularly in data analysis, to determine how business challenges can be addressed through technology.

The Business Analyst Consultant excels at gathering and documenting the genuine needs of the business. This position will concentrate on projects characterized by high complexity and broad impact, often being the sole Business Analyst on the initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and facilitate requirements analysis and reviews, pinpointing the most effective requirements to satisfy business objectives.
  • Evaluate IT estimates and identify the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) necessary to achieve business benefits while balancing project costs and timelines.
  • Engage in strategic planning through the development of feasibility studies and business cases.
  • Consult with management regarding business needs, stakeholder requirements, opportunities, and operational efficiency, proposing solutions for process enhancements.
  • Document requirements and conduct requirements review sessions with business sponsors, project stakeholders, and IT partners; requirements may include functional, non-functional, traditional, and user stories/features.
  • Participate in technical analysis meetings and daily stand-ups with IT partners, supporting Systems Analysts in the creation of functional specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with developers and other IT resources to advocate for the business, ensuring user satisfaction.
  • Work in conjunction with Quality Assurance Analysts to guarantee that the testing strategy mitigates business risks.
  • Support and coordinate User Acceptance Testing by aiding in planning, developing test cases, executing tests, and considering automated testing techniques.
  • Assist in the creation of user documentation, instructions, and procedures.
  • Support post-implementation testing, ensuring comprehensive user testing to avoid production issues.
  • Identify and escalate project risks and issues.
  • Develop and implement a Process Redesign plan, leading and coaching the business through the implementation while ensuring effective change management.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship for Business Analysts and User Acceptance Testers at all levels, identifying gaps and delivering training.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, reporting, issue tracking, and escalation for non-IT projects.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years as a Lead Business Analyst or Systems Analyst on large IT projects, preferably in the financial services or insurance sectors.
  • Strong expertise in Process Redesign, including data modeling, transaction flow analysis, internal control, risk analysis, and modern business methods.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Business Analysis processes, tools, and techniques.
  • Experience in developing, coaching, and mentoring Business Analysts and User Acceptance Testers across various experience levels.
  • Proven success in developing and implementing training programs.
  • Ability to draft business cases, project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Strong understanding of systems development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with agile development and product ownership.
  • Experience in developing non-functional requirements (e.g., application performance, scalability, throughput).
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to define and resolve complex issues.
  • Excellent documentation and presentation skills (both written and verbal) with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, complemented by well-developed project management capabilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills.
  • Strong conceptual skills with the ability to exercise flexibility and judgment in a dynamic environment.
  • Business Analyst Certification or significant prior experience as a Business Analyst.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in MS Office.

  • Annual bonus program, vacation allowance, and company-sponsored benefits.
  • An additional paid volunteer day each year to contribute to the community.
  • Immediate enrollment in the company's pension program with employer matching.
  • Employee resource groups that promote an inclusive workplace.
  • Tuition support and specialized program assistance.
  • An onsite cafeteria offering a variety of daily meal options.
