Position: Business Analyst Consultant, Savings & Retirement (S&R)
Reports To: Director, Digital Experience
Department: Savings and Retirement
Employment Type: Permanent Full-Time

Work Arrangement: This position offers a hybrid work model. You will be required to work in our office a minimum of two consecutive days every other week, along with an additional day each month. There is flexibility to work more from the office if desired.

Role Overview: The Business Analyst Consultant will serve as the key liaison between the Savings & Retirement division and IT partners on significant technology initiatives. A strong background in IT projects and analytical skills, particularly in data analysis, is essential for identifying how technology can address business challenges.

The consultant will excel in gathering and documenting the precise requirements of the business. This role will focus on high-complexity projects that have a substantial impact on the organization, often being the sole business analyst involved.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and facilitate requirements analysis, ensuring the identification of optimal solutions to meet business objectives.
  • Evaluate IT estimates and define the Minimal Viable Product (MVP) necessary to achieve business benefits while managing project costs and timelines.
  • Conduct strategic planning through the development of feasibility studies and business cases.
  • Consult with management on business and stakeholder needs, opportunities, and operational efficiency, providing recommendations for process enhancements.
  • Document requirements and organize review sessions with business sponsors, project stakeholders, and IT partners, covering functional, non-functional, and user story requirements.
  • Engage in technical analysis meetings and support Systems Analysts in crafting functional specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with developers and IT resources to advocate for business interests and ensure user satisfaction.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance Analysts to develop a test strategy that mitigates business risks.
  • Support and coordinate User Acceptance Testing, including planning, test case development, execution, and consideration of automation techniques.
  • Assist in creating user documentation, instructions, and procedures.
  • Facilitate post-implementation testing to ensure comprehensive user testing and resolution of production issues.
  • Identify and escalate project risks and issues as necessary.
  • Develop and implement a Process Redesign plan, leading the business through effective change management.
  • Provide mentorship and training for Business Analysts and User Acceptance Testers across all experience levels.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, reporting, and issue tracking for non-IT projects.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years as a Lead Business Analyst or Systems Analyst on large IT projects, preferably in the financial services or insurance sectors.
  • Extensive experience in Process Redesign, including data modeling, transaction flow analysis, and risk assessment.
  • Expertise in Business Analysis methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Experience in developing, coaching, and mentoring Business Analysts and User Acceptance Testers.
  • Proven ability to create and implement training programs.
  • Strong skills in writing business cases, project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of systems development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with agile development practices and product ownership.
  • Experience in developing non-functional requirements related to application performance and scalability.
  • Exceptional critical thinking and analytical skills, with the capacity to resolve complex issues.
  • Excellent documentation and presentation skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, complemented by project management skills.
  • Effective interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt and exercise judgment in a dynamic environment.
  • Business Analyst Certification or significant prior experience in a similar role.
  • Technical Proficiencies:
  • MS Office Suite
  • MS Visio
  • HP ALM/Quality Center
  • Experience with Test Automation Tools is advantageous.
