Overview

The Plant Manager at Holcim will oversee the daily operations of one of our premier Sand and Gravel facilities in Eastern Canada. This position is pivotal in ensuring excellence in safety, environmental stewardship, production efficiency, and distribution processes. The role encompasses the development, leadership, and management of all site personnel. The Plant Manager will work closely with various functional teams, including safety, environmental, land management, manufacturing, and supply chain, to promote a standardized approach and consistent processes. Additionally, the Plant Manager will engage with local communities and stakeholders to uphold our corporate social responsibility initiatives, ensuring we are recognized as a respected member of the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Safety Leadership:

Foster a robust safety culture at the site through active engagement with employees and contractors, aiming for a goal of zero harm. Conduct daily safety meetings to reinforce commitment to workplace safety and ensure compliance with local and regional health and safety regulations.

2. Human Resource Management:

Oversee the development, motivation, and training of all direct reports to enhance their performance. Manage the hiring process and administer disciplinary actions fairly to address performance issues. Promote a culture of customer focus and operational efficiency within frontline teams.

3. Production Oversight:

Assess manpower needs and create shift schedules to meet production targets. Establish and manage production and maintenance schedules, ensuring compliance with maintenance protocols and effective management of subcontractors.

4. Financial Oversight:

Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget, participate in financial reviews, and identify cost-saving opportunities. Ensure accurate production and inventory forecasting to maximize profitability.

5. Customer Relations:

Manage frontline shipping staff and coordinate with sales and dispatch teams to fulfill customer requirements efficiently. Oversee stockpile inventories and address quality issues related to shipping.

6. Land and Environmental Compliance:

Ensure adherence to mining plans and compliance with environmental regulations. Assist in the implementation of the Environmental Management System (EMS) and manage water usage data to comply with relevant permits.

7. Community Engagement:

Act as the primary liaison with local stakeholders, including community members and government officials, to foster positive relationships.

Collaborative Relationships:

  • Coordinate with other Plant Managers to align operational priorities.
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to implement best practices.
  • Collaborate with safety and environmental managers to uphold compliance with regulations.
  • Engage with operations analysts to ensure accurate budgeting and forecasting.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • A degree in business, engineering, or a related field.
  • A Master's in Business Administration is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, preferably in the aggregates or construction sector.
