Director of Manufacturing Strategy & Operations

SmartSkin Technologies is on the lookout for a proactive and innovative Director of Manufacturing Strategy & Operations to spearhead the evolution and expansion of our manufacturing capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will possess a robust background in the production of small electronic devices and demonstrate a track record of crafting and implementing a transformative manufacturing strategy. This pivotal role is essential for enhancing our operational capacity, refining our supply chain, and meeting our production and quality benchmarks. The Director of Manufacturing Strategy & Operations will be positioned to lead initiatives that drive efficiency and effectiveness in our manufacturing processes.

Strategic Leadership:

  • Formulate and implement a visionary manufacturing strategy for the upcoming 3-5 years.
  • Guide the necessary actions to scale current operations in alignment with the new strategic vision.

Operational Excellence:

  • Enhance lab-scale manufacturing for scalability and introduce cost-efficient, innovative practices.
  • Oversee outsourcing and manage partnerships with contract manufacturers and assembly collaborators.
  • Establish benchmark expectations, ensure accountability within teams, and provide progress updates.
  • Create processes to reduce errors and quality concerns, ensuring deliverables align with budgetary and timeline expectations.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to refine product designs for scalable manufacturing.
  • Manage logistics, inventory control, vendor relationships, and warehouse operations while improving supply chain efficiency to support growth.

Team Management:

  • Enhance team productivity while facilitating a seamless transition to new performance standards and operational culture.
  • Lead and mentor cross-functional teams, including assembly, quality assurance, calibration, and supply chain.
  • Promote a culture of operational excellence, teamwork, and innovation.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance assessments.
  • Collaborate with marketing, sales, finance, and engineering to align team efforts with business objectives and market needs.

Quality and Compliance:

  • Guarantee that production adheres to the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in leading high-quality manufacturing operations, particularly in the production of small electronic devices.
  • A dynamic and engaging personality with a natural aptitude for effective management and leading transformative change.
  • Proven capability to develop and execute a transformative manufacturing strategy, with strong skills in strategic planning, project management, and process enhancement.
  • Extensive experience in outsourcing manufacturing processes and optimizing supply chains.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, safety regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Willingness to engage in international travel for benchmarking and partnership development.
