People Operations Manager

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Quietly Media, Inc. Full time

We are seeking a dedicated People & Culture Manager who resides in the local Vancouver area, with an expectation of being in the office approximately two days per week.

The landscape of Marketing & Communications is evolving due to media fragmentation, shifting consumer behaviors, and the increasing importance of search and social platforms. As a People & Culture Manager at Quietly Media, Inc., you will oversee the People function and collaborate with our team to assist leading brands in gaining attention rather than relying on disruptive advertising.

In partnership with the senior leadership team and departmental managers, the People & Culture Manager will report directly to the COO, providing essential HR, recruitment, and personnel support for our team of over 25 full-time employees.

Your background should include experience in a technology or creative environment, or within a marketing or PR agency, where you have significantly contributed to the HR team and developed programs from inception. This includes areas such as continuous performance management, goal setting, total compensation, employee benefits, recognition programs, and recruitment strategies.

You should be well-versed in contemporary HR trends and technologies, with a proven ability to leverage data and analytics to guide your strategies.

If you are seeking a significant challenge and share our ambition for growth, we would like to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the full recruitment cycle, including marketing and posting through social media, candidate screening, interviewing, agency coordination, and ensuring a seamless experience through our ATS.
  • Provide coaching and support to people leaders on performance management, career development, and employee relations.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and COO to design and implement strategic HR initiatives, including research, recommendations, and execution.
  • Engage in communication during quarterly Town Halls, leadership meetings, and weekly stand-ups.
  • Lead our internal Culture Committee and work closely with the Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, and Belonging (DIEB) committee and external consultants.
  • Analyze and provide insights from our bi-annual employee survey, sharing findings with the team.
  • Become the subject matter expert and administrator of our People & Culture technology stack, including performance management and professional development platforms.
  • Assist the senior leadership team in managing the annual compensation review process.
  • Work with our broker and COO to enhance benefits policies and programs, including renewals and utilization analysis.
  • Oversee all HR documentation and manage HR data organization.
  • Update and maintain the Employee Handbook and related policies.
  • Facilitate the onboarding and offboarding processes, including new hire orientation and exit interviews.
  • Support the continuous performance management program.
  • Collaborate with the Office Coordinator to ensure the optimal configuration of our workspace.
  • Oversee health, safety, community, and environmental initiatives.
  • Stay informed about HR trends and best practices to proactively recommend improvements to culture, policies, and practices.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as an HR Business Partner, Generalist, or Manager, with a history of driving comprehensive HR functions and fostering organizational culture.
  • CPHR designation is an asset or actively pursuing it.
  • Experience in a tech, creative, or marketing/PR environment is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and maintain relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Resourceful and proactive in navigating ambiguous situations.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, ensuring clarity in messaging.
  • Curious and thoughtful in decision-making and communication crafting.
  • Ability to advocate for the team while respectfully challenging senior leadership when necessary.
  • Thrives in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.

The typical salary range for this position is $75,000–$95,000 CAD annually, with final compensation determined by relevant knowledge, skills, and experience.
