Key Responsibilities

Daily Activities Overview

Project Management & Waste Engineering

  • Develop both preliminary and detailed designs for civil infrastructure and solid waste initiatives, focusing on solid waste facility design such as landfills, transfer stations, and composting facilities. This includes evaluating existing facilities, overseeing operations, managing landfill gas, leachate control, and construction supervision.
  • Act as a technical lead or project manager for solid waste initiatives, encompassing planning, approvals, feasibility studies, and the development, operation, and monitoring of waste facilities across Canada.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including reports, letters, memoranda, and applications for approvals and permits, along with materials suitable for public dissemination.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, environmental scientists, and various specialists within multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Provide technical and professional guidance within the organization.
  • Oversee project tasks, budgets, and timelines effectively.

Business Development Contributions

  • Engage in business development efforts, including crafting project work plans, technical and financial proposals, and presentations while maintaining client relationships.
  • Travel to project sites or other company offices as required.

Required Qualifications

Essential Skills for Success

  • A degree in civil engineering is required.
  • Must be a licensed engineer in Nova Scotia or Ontario, or have the capability to obtain licensure upon joining the firm.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is necessary, with prior involvement in solid waste management or consulting engineering considered advantageous.

Desired Experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new concepts.
  • Familiarity with applicable provincial and federal environmental regulations, policies, codes, and standards.
  • Capability to analyze data effectively.
  • Basic knowledge of AUTOCAD, GIS, or Surfer software is beneficial.
