The Bank of Canada Museum serves as both a traditional museum and an interpretive center, merging history, art, science, and enjoyment. As part of the Bank's Communications department, the Museum's mission is to clarify the key functions of the institution for Canadians. Additionally, through the National Currency Collection, the Museum interprets our monetary heritage, both Canadian and international, while also prioritizing educational programming.

Responsibilities
You will deliver exceptional service to visitors at the Museum. Under the guidance of the Manager, Visitor Services, you will support the Museum's mission by facilitating public activities for visitors, including guided tours and school visits. Furthermore, you will assist in the planning and execution of scheduled Museum events.

More specifically, your duties will include:

  • Welcoming visitors at the front desk, addressing inquiries about all aspects of the Museum, and collecting visitor data
  • Raising public awareness regarding the roles and responsibilities of the Central Bank
  • Interpreting history and the Museum's themes through engaging dialogue with visitors
  • Facilitating guided tours, family activities during special events, and school programs both in-person and virtually
  • Assisting in the Museum boutique
  • Contributing to various visitor services projects as needed

Qualifications for Success

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both virtually and in-person before audiences
  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to creatively and enthusiastically engage with visitors while confidently presenting information to diverse groups
  • Quick to develop an understanding of the Museum's history, heritage, and mission
  • Experience in providing outstanding customer service by addressing inquiries, offering assistance, and ensuring visitor comfort and satisfaction

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the Bank of Canada
  • Experience in Museology or Education
  • Familiarity with virtual presentation platforms
  • Previous experience in Customer Service/Guest Services

Education and Experience
This position requires one to two years of relevant experience working with the public, preferably in a museum or educational setting (e.g., as a guide, interpreter, or educator).

Important Information

  • Language requirement: Bilingual in English and French, with a minimum starting level of functional (level 4) in the second official language. Training may be provided to help achieve the required level of fully functional (level 5) in the second official language.
  • Priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
  • Security level required: Eligibility to obtain Reliability.
  • No relocation assistance will be provided.
