About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cultural Heritage Professional to join our Environmental Division at McIntosh Perry. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting our growth and expansion into the cultural heritage sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and implementation of our cultural heritage strategy, including the identification and pursuit of new business opportunities.
  • Independently prepare and finalize cultural heritage reports, including Existing Conditions and Preliminary Impact Assessments, Cultural Heritage Assessment Reports (CHAR), Cultural Heritage Evaluation Reports (CHER), Heritage Impact Assessments (HIA), and Documentation and Salvage Reports.
  • Responsible for bidding, preparation of proposals, invoicing, and project management of cultural heritage projects as part of stand-alone proposals or team proposals.
  • Actively engage in client management and business development, building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attend, promote, and represent McIntosh Perry at relevant cultural heritage industry events, conferences, and workshops.
  • Collaborate with other departments within the company to promote and educate about cultural heritage services, ensuring a cohesive and integrated approach to client delivery.
  • Maintain positive client relationships, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and loyalty.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree/diploma in heritage planning, heritage conservation, or a heritage-related discipline.
  • 5-10 years of demonstrated cultural heritage experience, with a strong track record of success in project management, client management, and business development.
  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP).
  • Qualified cultural heritage professional as defined by the Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism (MCM).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience writing winning proposals and executing on those projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of international, federal, and provincial heritage legislation and best practices, including the Appleton and Venice Charters, Ontario Heritage Act, Planning Act, Environmental Assessment Act, The Standards and Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada, MTO's heritage policies and procedures, and other relevant policy frameworks.
  • Experience providing advice and guidance for heritage-related matters for a variety of stakeholders, including the public, and municipal, provincial, and federal heritage agencies.
  • Experience completing historic property research, built heritage surveys, cultural landscape surveys, heritage inventory, determining impacts on the historic environment, and designating properties under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act.
  • Experience writing and completing heritage reports, including Existing Conditions and Preliminary Impact Assessments, Cultural Heritage Assessment Reports (CHAR), Cultural Heritage Evaluation Reports (CHER), Heritage Impact Assessments (HIA), Documentation and Salvage Reports, conservation plans, cultural heritage landscape studies, and other heritage reporting to fulfill requirements under the Planning Act and Environmental Assessment Act, including MCEA, MTO Class Environmental Assessments (EA), and Conservation Authority Class EAs.
  • Experience and familiarity with municipal heritage planning processes, including heritage permit applications, working with property owners, municipal heritage committees, developers, and municipal Councillors to best achieve heritage objectives.
  • Experience organizing, designing, and facilitating public consultation, outreach, and educational materials.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write and review heritage reports, including CHR/CHARs, CHERs, and HIAs.
  • Experience using a variety of computer software, including Microsoft Office, Excel.
