Your Role

We are looking for a motivated environmental specialist eager to enhance their career as a Sustainability Project Coordinator within our expanding Site Investigation and Remediation (SIR) team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in managing environmental assessments, remediation projects, and risk management initiatives in challenging environments. Responsibilities will encompass various sectors, including oil and gas and federal projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive scopes of work and cost projections for executing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), contaminated site investigations (Phase II and III ESAs), Risk Assessment and Management Plans, Regulatory Monitoring and Reporting, and Remedial Options Analysis.
  • Oversee and coordinate subcontractors as necessary to fulfill project requirements.
  • Track and manage project scope, budget, and timelines effectively.
  • Conduct and lead fieldwork on complex projects while mentoring junior field staff.
  • Collaborate with field personnel and technical leaders throughout project execution.
  • Analyze project data and compile technical reports that adhere to regulatory standards.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and provide regular updates on project progress.
  • Update client tracking systems as needed.
  • Engage in marketing and business development efforts, contributing to proposal development alongside other Stantec disciplines.
  • Collaborate with other project managers to ensure proper resource allocation.
  • Lead and participate in regular project meetings.
  • Promote a positive safety culture across all projects.

Qualifications

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will possess:

  • In-depth knowledge of project management principles related to environmental investigations and remediation.
  • A strong grasp of the remediation and reclamation processes in the oil and gas sector.
  • Familiarity with the Federal Contaminated Sites Action Plan and relevant Environmental Quality Guidelines.
  • Experience with regulatory authorities in northern regions.
  • Experience in site investigation and remediation techniques, particularly in permafrost conditions.
  • Technical proficiency and strong writing skills.
  • Ability to lead teams and manage projects effectively.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, capable of conveying information clearly in various formats.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and make sound decisions.
  • Willingness to travel for field oversight, meetings, or training.

Education

  • A degree or diploma in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or Hydrogeology.
  • A minimum of ten years of experience in delivering technical site investigation and remediation solutions.
  • A demonstrated commitment to health and safety protocols.
