  • Qualify donors by determining their affinity, capacity, and interest in legacy giving.
  • Build and manage a portfolio of planned giving donors leading to lifelong philanthropic relationships with the University through their planned gifts.
  • Provide personal and appropriate follow-up, cultivation, and stewardship of donors, faculty, and other stakeholders.
  • Work with Advancement Directors in faculties and other units of the university to facilitate and generate philanthropic support through planned giving.
  • Meet clearly defined goals, including the achievement of $2 to $3 + million in new legacy commitments annually to SFU.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with completion of the Canadian Association of Gift Planning course, and four years fundraising experience with a solid background and understanding of planned giving, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, preferably in an academic environment.
  • Good knowledge of all aspects of planned giving.
  • Proven ability to engage a broad range of prospective legacy donors through direct contact.
  • Excellent solicitation and philanthropic relationship building skills.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, strategic planning and analytical reasoning skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication skills (oral, written, and presentation).
  • Ability to travel to various locations in the province.

At SFU, our goal is to ensure our people are valued and supported by promoting a healthy work-life balance, professional growth and development, as well as a safe and respectful workplace.
