Role Overview

The Applications Specialist position is a pivotal technical design and support role within GE Transportation's sales initiatives for custom-engineered heat exchangers. In this capacity, you will primarily focus on preparing preliminary designs and cost assessments for product proposal documents, which will be followed up by our sales team. Upon securing a contract, you will relay the contract's specifications to GE's design and production teams to facilitate the completion of detailed designs and product manufacturing. Additionally, you will provide technical assistance to our customers, sales team, and other cross-functional teams as necessary to ensure we achieve our objective of delivering high-quality products punctually.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop technical proposals for custom-designed heat exchangers and related components, which involves reviewing customer specifications, preliminary sizing of the heat exchanger, cost estimation, obtaining internal approvals, and preparing the proposal document package.
  • Upon receipt of orders, execute the order entry process, which includes preparing the Order Entry Package, securing necessary internal approvals, entering order details into GE's PLM system, and communicating order specifics to all relevant departments.
  • Offer technical support to the GE Transportation sales team and/or directly to customers.
  • Serve as a point of contact and resource for internal departments regarding contract details and technical requirements.
  • Assist with any corrective actions or quality-related issues concerning contracts.
  • Manage and communicate any customer modifications to orders still in progress prior to shipment.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum of an engineering technologist diploma from an accredited institution.
  • Relevant work experience will be taken into account.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Ability to articulate technical concepts clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Skill in translating technical requirements for non-technical audiences.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Capability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with heat exchangers and heat transfer applications.
  • Enjoyment of technical challenges and problem-solving.
  • Possession of a strong ethical foundation and a professional demeanor.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams or similar collaboration platforms.
