Role Overview
The Applications Specialist role is a pivotal technical support position within GE Transportation, specifically focused on the sales initiatives for custom-engineered heat exchangers. In this capacity, you will be responsible for developing preliminary designs and cost assessments for product proposals, which will be utilized by our sales team. Upon securing contracts, you will liaise with design and production teams to ensure that all specifications are met for the successful execution of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed technical proposals for custom-designed heat exchangers, including reviewing customer specifications, conducting preliminary sizing, and estimating costs.
- Facilitate the order entry process upon receipt of contracts, ensuring all necessary documentation and approvals are secured.
- Provide ongoing technical support to the sales team and customers, acting as a resource for contract details and technical requirements.
- Collaborate with various internal departments to ensure quality and timely delivery of products.
- Manage customer communications regarding any changes to orders in progress.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of an engineering technologist diploma from an accredited institution.
- Relevant work experience is advantageous.
Desired Characteristics:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for conveying technical concepts.
- Ability to simplify complex technical requirements for non-technical stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a strong capacity for independent and collaborative work.
- Familiarity with heat exchangers and thermal transfer applications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with knowledge of collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams.
Work Environment
In this role, you may also be tasked with additional responsibilities outside your primary function, with training provided as necessary.
