Position Overview:

The Avionics Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, servicing, and repair tasks on aircraft avionics systems and components, following the approved maintenance protocols. This role involves utilizing technical documentation, including manuals and schematics, to execute a variety of tasks such as disassembly, inspection, servicing, and reassembly of avionics components.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate support equipment and hand/power tools safely, adhering to Tool and FOD control procedures while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Analyze built-in-test (BITE) results, addressing any defects or unserviceability in avionics systems through disassembly, replacement, and reassembly, as well as conducting functional checks. Provide support for EMI/EMC tasks as required. Carry out ramp duties, including marshalling, parking, towing, fuelling/defueling, and conducting pre/post-flight inspections. Assist Avionics Systems Technicians with maintenance tasks following flight tests. Execute authorized airworthiness functions as Shop Certification Authority (SCA) and Product Conformance Authority (PCA). Participate in off-site Mobile Repair Parties/Field Teams and Work Parties as needed. Deliver on-the-job training (OJT) and technical guidance to fellow Avionics Technicians. Attend training sessions for professional development and qualification purposes. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and directives.

Qualifications:

Candidates must meet one of the following criteria: graduate of a recognized aircraft maintenance or apprenticeship program, possess a current Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) license, be qualified as an Avionics Technician with the Canadian Forces, or have completed an equivalent foreign military/civilian training program. Transport Canada licensed AME's (E) or candidates with FAA/JAA equivalent qualifications are preferred, especially those with experience in major modifications and prototype aircraft ground test plans. Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft avionics systems, including communications, navigation, radar, data management, instrumentation, and electrical power distribution. Proficient in following instructions and utilizing the Wire Information Management System (WIMS) along with general wiring practices standards. Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including manuals, drawings, Technical Data Packages (TDPs), Work Orders (WOs), and Request for Engineering Services (RES) instructions. Demonstrated proficiency in maintenance performance, acquired through training and practical experience, along with a basic understanding of airworthiness requirements. Must meet eligibility requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Secret Level II Security Clearance, and Transport Canada RAIC clearance.
